Akademia et al. is a training platform that was established in 2025 by Akademia to offer short courses to businesses or professional individuals in Afrikaans.
Short courses through Akademia et al. does not serve as admission to Akademia programmes. Each programme has unique admission requirements. Refer to Akademia’s web page for more information about our accredited degree and diploma programmes/qualifications.
The format differs between courses. Short courses are currently available in three formats: self-directed, online and in person. Refer to the courses you are interested in for more information. On special request from businesses the short courses can be presented internally or at different places in South Africa.
The duration of each short course differs. Refer to the information of the short course for more information about the duration of the short course.
Marks are made available electronically. A certificate of completion is issued to the course participant.
The Akademia et al. management team use their own discretion to determine which short courses are offered and to ensure that the Akademia quality is upheld.

Any person that has completed a matric (NSC) and wants to sharpen their skills can complete any course. Information at each short course indicates who the target market for the course is and who will benefit the most from such a short course.
The cost of the short course differs depending on the market as well as the nature of the course. Refer to the short course you are interested in for more information.
Payment can be completed directly on the webpage during registration and/or a request for a tax invoice can be sent to fakture@akademia.ac.za; such invoices must be settled within 48 hours of receipt.
Akademia et al. does not currently offer instalment agreements.
Group bookings do not currently receive a discount for short courses.

Course leaders are Akademia personnel, whilst presenters can be Akademia lecturers or external experts. Refer to the information on the short course you are interested in for more details.
Course material is developed from existing accredited Akademia programmes, as well as new course material. Short courses are not currently accredited by any body. In the future, this may be the case for some courses, and it will then be communicated as such in the short-course information.
Some courses have marks for continuing professional development. Refer to the short courses you are interested.
Currently short courses are only offered in Afrikaans. Bilingual presentations may be considered on special request.

It is compulsory that course participants have access to internet and laptop facilities.
Please note the following minimum requirements regarding the technical specifications of a laptop:
- A Core i3, i5, or i7 processor or similar
- 4 GB RAM or more (8 GB RAM recommended)
- 20 GB available hard drive space
- SSD is highly recommended
- Working web camera
- Working microphone
- Newest version of Google Chrome, that must be kept up to date
