Course Overview

Water quality management: an overview of resource, drinking- and waste water

 

1.               Water lettuce, hyacinth, raw sewage, “water shedding”, cholera ….does this sound familiar? South Africa is a dry country with limited water resources. It is therefore critically important that these resources are managed efficiently to ensure sustainability and economic growth.

2.               About 12 million people die every year from water-borne diseases, and most of these could easily be prevented through effective management. The purpose of this unique course is to bring delegates up to speed regarding various problems related to water management, and to provide them with a strong base that will enable individuals as well as organisations to make a positive difference.

3.               The course is compiled to provide you with a broad understanding of topics including measuring water quality and quantity, treatment of water to drinking standard and regulation and requirements in terms of drinking water quality treatment and management. Aspects that will be covered include: raw water, floods, droughts, climate change, pollution, potable water management – blue-and green drop programs, and various aspects regarding waste water management.

4.               This course is ideal for professionals, business owners or researchers who want to know more about water, in municipalities, industry, mining, and government institutions, as well as for teachers or students who wish to specialise in environmental management.

5.               The course will be presented in-person over four and a half consecutive days at one of Ademia’s venues in Centurion and Pretoria. The course will also be presented in Afrikaans later this year.
